Data Science and AI TIG: Align to Innovate

When:  Jan 28, 2025 from 01:00 PM to 02:00 PM (PT)

Align to Innovate is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing biology into a new era of reproducible, scalable, and shareable research through powerful predictive models and collaborative efforts. By uniting researchers and enabling large-scale, data-intensive projects supported by automated methods, the organization aims to drive the "industrial revolution" of life science research, transforming it into a robust, agile discipline. Central to its mission are two complementary efforts: creating novel public datasets through partnerships with automated research facilities and hosting transparent benchmarking competitions and machine learning challenges to measure progress.

A key focus area is protein function prediction, tackled through the Generalized Experimental Platform for Protein Function Measurements, which streamlines high-throughput, quantitative analysis of diverse protein functions. This innovative platform supports the development of accurate predictive models that advance biology and medicine. Align to Innovate also fosters innovation with its Protein Engineering Tournament, inspired by CASP and Alphafold2, to benchmark computational protein design methods. The inaugural 2024 tournament drew global participation in enzyme design challenges, with the next iteration in 2025 set to address broader and more impactful problems. Through these initiatives, Align to Innovate accelerates progress and unites the scientific community.
