About Mentor Match

Welcome! The SLAS Mentor Match program reflects our commitment to you and your professional development. Mentor Match is designed to help you find, connect with, and give or receive guidance and ideas from other SLAS community members. An SLAS mentor or mentee can live in the same city or on the other side of the world.

You can apply to be part of the SLAS Mentor Match as a Mentor or a Mentee in four easy steps:
    1. COMPLETE YOUR PROFILE

Make sure your CONNECTED contact information is up to date, add a recent profile picture, expand on your bio, and add or import your education and job history information from LinkedIn. A complete and accurate profile is crucial to the success of selection and matching.

Profile already complete? Return to this page and move to step 2.

    2. ENROLL

Are you looking to offer advice as a Mentor or are you looking to receive advice as a Mentee? It could be both depending on where you are on your career path.

      Sign up:

        •   Enroll as a Mentor
        •   Enroll as a Mentee

Set your preferences by selecting the appropriate program demographics. Some fields are required for enrollment. Demographics include topics, venue, specialties, career stage and start/end date. The more information you provide, the better the match.

    3. SEARCH

Use the Mentor Program Directory to input your search criteria. Start by selecting the topic(s) of interest which include:

      - Industry sector
      - Area of work focus
      - Primary job function

    4. MAKE A MATCH!

Congratulations! You've completed Steps 1-3 -- let the mentoring begin. You can conduct one search or multiple searches. If you're unsure of the search criteria, select "Search for ALL of the selected values." The SLAS Mentor Program Directory will do the work for you and populate the results.

Next, click the member's name with whom you're interested in establishing a mentor/mentee connection. This will bring you to their profile page. If the person looks like a good match, click the Request Mentor button under their profile image to request a connection.

If it's not a good match, simply select the back button to return to your previous search results.

    5. CONNECT!

After Mentor Match is confirmed, you will receive an email with a link to your mentoring relationships page. There you will find your Mentor Match. Get CONNECTED by visiting your mentor/mentees profile or using CONNECTED private message.
