Dr. Richard M. Eglen is an independent Board member and consultant, providing strategic advisory services to public and private organizations, Private Equity investment companies and academic institutions, in the US, Europe and Asia.
Dr. Eglen has held numerous executive management positions in the pharmaceutical, diagnostic, and biotech industries, having worked in the Life Sciences industry for over 40 years.
Most recently, he retired as Vice President and General Manager of Corning Life Sciences, a ~$1B operating division of Corning Inc. Prior to joining Corning in 2011, he was President of Bio-discovery at PerkinElmer.
Dr. Eglen also has extensive experience in drug discovery, working as Executive Vice President for research and development at DiscoveRx Corp (now Eurofins Pharma Discovery Services), and Vice President of the Center for Biological Research at Roche Pharmaceuticals.
He has authored over 320 publications, book chapters, and patents, and serves on several industry, academic advisory, and journal editorial boards. He has worked on several key drug targets, including GPCRs, kinases, and ion channels, as well as developing and commercializing assay and instrument technologies for cell and gene therapy, cell culture, high-throughput screening, imaging and biomarker detection.
He is a Fellow of the Society for Laboratory Automation and Screening (SLAS), as well as a previous Board member and past President of the Society.
