  • 1.  FMI vs peristaltic pumps

    Hello everyone,

I'm looking to gather insights and experiences comparing FMI and peristaltic pumps for pre-metered solvent preparation in volumes of 2 to 5 liters, specifically for handling phosphate buffers, acetonitrile, water, and similar solvents.
This is slightly out of the operational range I have worked with in the past (where a millilitre was seen a huge volume...!) so I would really appreciate the help from those who have direct experience.
The main questions I'm hoping to get some answers to are below:

Volume Accuracy: How precise and consistent is the delivered volume with each pump type?
Speed of Dispensing: What dispensing speeds are achievable without compromising accuracy or solvent integrity?
Ease of Maintenance: How straightforward are maintenance tasks such as cleaning, tube or seal replacement, and overall upkeep?

Feel free to share advantages, drawbacks, or any operational tips.
Thank you in advance for your help! :)
