Hello all!
this post is cross-posted on both the Membership Committee and the Student and Early Career Membership Committee - FYI
As discussed on both recent committee calls, we are asking you to make some personal outreach to the new members that have had no or little activity since joining. The purpose of this outreach is to give them more information about how they can utilize their membership year-round and what their benefits entail.
When we first stared looking that list, we quickly determined that the ask will be small to start, because we don't require a phone number when we an account is created. So, the list is small - one or two calls per committee members. This is fine, and will be a good start to this campaign, the next step can be person emails to those without numbers. We divided the calls, with the Student and Early Committee committee calling the inactive Student, Early Career and Lab members and the Membership Committee calling the Premier members.
Please plan to have your calls completed by May 1.
We have taken a look at each person's activities with SLAS to give you as much information as possible when making the calls. We will send these to you in separate emails so this message doesn't get too long.
Here is some helpful information to assist in your calls:
Lab Members are usually added by their Lab Head or another team member. They DO get personalized emails from SLAS upon joining, with information on their benefits and links, etc. but we find that sometimes they are simply unaware of what their membership entails.
Lab and Student members receive the same benefits of Premier membership, at a discounted price. A full outline of member types and benefits is at the end of this message.
As a special promo JUST to these members, we are giving them access to SLAS2023 On-Demand content through the month of May. They will just need to log into APPLIED to view.
We have an extensive Student Resources page on the website, with information on everything from the SLAS awards, grants, podcasts, e-Learning, careers, etc. Please be sure to highlight to the Student Members.
There is much more to their membership than discounted registration to the SLAS Conference and Exhibition. Sometimes folks join for a meeting and don't realize the depth of offerings outside of that. One example is the symposia program - there are four of them in 2023. Here is the link to the Events Page.
Premier Member - $155
Lab Member $110 (covered under a group payment)
Student Member $0 (complimentary through 2023)
